Well, how quick was that? Barely are we getting over the 1999 Rugby World Cup match that never happened, and then a millennium bug that was going to shut the world down, and in the wink of a bloodshot eye, ten years have slid by.  Two more world cups never happened in this period, and we are nearing the second decade of the 2000s! Bugger me, time flies when you're having fun eh?

Well, I don't know about fun, but this last ten years has been full of ups and downs - beating the Boers eight matches on the trot, winning the Tri nations four years on the trot, down-trowing the Lions, and in general, winning almost everything on offer over the last ten years.  Apart from that one little cup that is, where you need to play six or seven weeks in a row really, really well, and then be called the world champions for the next four years - not winning that has certainly been the downs.

2009 could also be called a down, losing to the Boers zero to three, not having the player depth to beat France, in New Zealand, and in general, until the EOYT, an All Black team not playing like an All Black team.  At least though, we are not 'peaking between world cups'.  And if you look back on the season, it isn't all bad, we have found a few true international players to fill some gaps (Read, Thomson, Franks, Donnelly), and in a rebuilding year, playing crap, we are still ranked number one in the world, thanks to the Boers self destructing on their EOYT.  I mean, losing to the likes of Ireland (due apologies to Ireland, but being a Kiwi, and having never had my beloved All Blacks lose to the emerald green wearing potato munchers, that is just beyond contemplation), it's just 'not cricket' as the tweed wearing gin swillers would say!

It has not been all good though, with gap in quality between Carter and McCaw, and their back ups making the Grand Canyon look like a crack in the footpath.  But, really, that's just life eh, and to be frank, we've seen what happens when you have two XV's of world class as in 2007 - nothing!  Only 15 can play at one time, so play your top side, damn the torpedoes, and hope for the best!

Anyway, enough waffling on with the show, the luminaries on the SilverFern Fourm are going to pick this team.  Voting for the players that have been short listed by the panel of experts in the moderators lounge...

First up will be BartMan's favourites, the front rowers, tune in on Wednesday to get the low down on the piano movers in contention for the TSF team of the decade.
