A genuine kilted Kiwi, MN5 joined the forum late 2006, and has been telling lies about how good Scotland never was since.  As head haggis muncher has been responsible for informing the unwashed heathen about what players are which whenever the All Blacks play again the skirt wearers.  Of course being a Kiwi also supports the All Blacks and the Hurricanes, so is used to the ups and downs of being a sports fan - more downs than ups with the Scots and Hurricanes, which then stands him in good stead for the four yearly gut wrencher from the All Blacks at RWCs...

Describe yourself in 25 words or less:
Tall, blue eyed, musical, laid back yet fiery, great drinker, snappy dresser sometimes, hmmmmmmmm hard to write too much without sounding like a complete PistonwristedGibbon so I’ll stop…..

What international rugby team do you support and why?
All Blacks ( duh !?!?! ) and the Scots due to my heritage which is akin to supporting the NZ test cricket team. Lots of ticker but often lacking ability against classier opponents. THEY WILL BEAT THE ABS IN MY LIFETIME and when that does happen I will be happy ( in a bittersweet way ) Fark haven’t the ABs hammered them recently though, DEVASTATING !!

What Super 14 team do you support and why?
The Canes on account of living in the great windy city. You’d think spending much of my childhood in Nelson may have given me a certain affinity with the Crusaders. It didn’t.

What's the biggest challenge facing rugby?
Players chasing the almighty dollar and NZ not being able to afford them.

Who was the game's greatest ever player?
Such a cliché but Jonah is still the best ball runner I’ve ever seen. He may have had his weaknesses ( dodgy kidneys, sloppy on defence, having a loud stereo, promoting KFC as a staple part of a healthy diet, inability to tell the sex of his child ) but as an attacker, gee whiz I’ve never seen one better. Honourable mentions to Cully, Zinny, JC and DC. ( Sorry just need a moment, I still miss JC so much )

How about non-NZ players? Who were/are the greatest?
In no particular order the likes of Henry Honiball, Stirling Mortlock, John Jeffrey, Gavin Hastings, Andre Venter, Scott Gibbs, Emile Ntamack and John Eales have earned my admiration over the years…

The best match you have ever seen?
Quite possibly the Blues downing the canes 45-42 in the super 12 back in 97. Even though they lost it was such a great advertisement for running rugby. Also had to rate the Bledisloe in 01 as well, about 15 of us in a mates lounge downing monteiths lager, watching a great game and then loud music and drinking games after. Just a great time all round.

The best try you have ever seen?
Cullen's freakish effort against the Scots in Dunedin in 96, how the hell he slipped 6 or 7 guys just defied belief. Apparently Dad and I had the same expression on our faces as we watched live, took awhile for our jaws to leave the floor.

What position did you play, if you played, in rugby?
Centre/wing usually, occasionally lock and blindside. Making a comeback this year ( I think, I hope ) I don’t wanna be a forward though ( which will not endear me to many people on here ! ) Is it easy to catch 20 year olds when you’re my age ? all advice gratefully received.

What do you like about the Silverfern?
I am constantly in awe at the knowledge on here about rugby of course ( before I came here I thought props were just too farkin lazy to run hard with the ball ! ) and about just about anything. I know if I have a query I can come here and once I sift through the inevitable amusing smartass answers there will be some good advice. The main thing though which is unique in my view is the fact that everyone seems real, on most internet forums every single person seems to have a 12 inch dick, be able to kick the shit out of 20 mongrel mob members single handedly, earn in the high six figures and score every chick in any given bar. The complete and utter lack of egos on here is very refreshing and I’d be happy to have a beer with just about any of you….

Aw and you can all read and rite real good as well !!

How could the site be improved?
Hard to think of anything really, perhaps less grey on the forum ?!?! naaa that’s just a small gripe…

Who's your favourite poster?
Virgil, Red Beard, Taniwharugby, Nepia, Tighthead Ted (wherever he is ?!?! ) and a few others are always good for a bit of banter about a variety of topics.

Who's the worst poster?
Won’t name names but some people do get a bit precious if they are disagreed with. People do need to lighten up here on occasion, some topics get WAAAAAAAYYYYYY too serious when they don’t need to.

How could the game of rugby be improved?
Less complications at ruck and maul perhaps ?!?! get back to the rules they had in the late 90’s early 00s, no coincidence that Rugby was so great to watch then…..Make it like Rugby 08 on the playstation where the ball leaves the ruck after a couple of seconds every time !!

What rugby player would you turn gay for?
Sean Lamont without a doubt. Do a google search on him and you'll see why...

Non-rugby questions now:
Favourite music?
Chillis, Jamiroquai, lots of 70s funk, Deep Purple, Hendrix, Eagles of Death metal, Rick James, Prince, a bit of gangster rap, a bit of metal, a bit of easy listening. Quite a weird and wonderful selection….as Nigel Kennedy said there are only two types of music…..good and bad. No genre I completely dislike although Reggae and Country come close ! music is a huge part of my life, I’d hate to see the size of the pile of all the tapes and CDs I’ve bought over the years…..

Favourite book?
Various biographys of sporting, music and film type people. In terms of fiction I rated the Hannibal Lecter books very highly. I read a lot of magazines and newspapers but not enough books to be honest.

Favourite Film?
Star Wars ( all six ) pretty much any movie with Clint, Bond Movies, Jaws, stuff with De Niro and pacino ( so Heat naturally ), a good horror film, War movies…..

Biggest lifetime regret?
That I didn’t put nearly enough effort into playing music and sport as a young fella. Once I left school boozing and womanising got in the way. Making up for lost time this year ( not allowed to womanise anymore though ) but harder once you’re past 30….loads and loads of other regrets as well but none I’m gonna bore you all with.

Greatest hope?
Usual shit, be a great husband and dad, be a great mate…..a whole pile of clichés really. Working really hard this year on being a better Bass player as well. I’m also naturally really excited about doing dad stuff with the boy ( going to the tip and having ice creams after, singing along to the radio, watching him play sport etcetcetc )
