The TSF Suicide Pool sustained only light damage in round 2. 34 players started the week, and when round 2 had finished the death toll stood at a very impressive 1
MN5 and Corkscrew were the only two players who did NOT choose the Stormers, Sharks or Force this week. Highlanders fans will complain that the sin-binning of Adam Thomson was unfair and let the Hurricanes back into the game at the halfway mark. Hurricanes fans (and any mammal with eyes) will feel that Daniel Bowden's try was a bloody knock-on! Whatever. Smith's try not only sunk the Highlanders, but it was also the cause of death for TSF SuicidePool's only victim this week Corkscrew. The FORCE were this week's most heavily backed team with 15 Ferners not afraid to employ the 'Back whoever the Cheetahs are playing technique, even if that meant placing their suicide hopes on John Mitchell's BFF's at Subiaco. You know that bit in action movies during the final fight with the Biggest Bad Guy? The bit just after the Hero and the Biggest Bad Guy have had the mother of all fights where they've punched the shit out of each other and thrown each other through at least $12,000 worth of office furniture? When you see the Hero finally deliver a wise crack before delivering the knock out blow to the Biggest Bad Guy? When you think the Biggest Bad Guy has been knocked out? When the love interest comes running out from behind a desk/barrel she was hiding behind? And she runs over and sobs on him? And it's all really cool because the 'Hero has saved the day' and it's going to be cool? But then it's NOT ALL COOL because in the back of shot you see the blurred shape of the Biggest Bad Guy!!!! And holy shit look out he's got a gunnnnn!!!! And the Biggest Bad Guy is raising his gun (painfully slowly) and pointing it at the back of Hero's head? And then the Hero catches sight of the Biggest Bad Guy in the reflection of the pendant he gave the love interest earlier on? And then there's this loud BANG!! You do? Good. Because that's exactly what happened in the Stormers vs Reds game. The Stormers were the Hero, The Reds were the Biggest Bad Guy and the 11 Ferners who backed the STORMERS in Suicidepool this week were the Love Interest with the shiny pendant and nice rack. The Stormers lead 27 - 5 with 16 minutes left. Queensland cut the lead to 27 -24 with 3 tries in quick succession . With 3 minutes left they had their handgun pointed at the back of the Stomers head. But recognising the danger in the shiny pendant, the Stomers closed out the game and blew the Red's head off in front of the Newlands faithful. There's an old rugby wisdom that says 'The side that scores first after halftime will win the match'. We say Bullshit! Ashwin WIllemse scored for The Lions 2 minutes into the second half and did the Lions win? No, they got beaten by the Sharks 25-10. This was good news for the 7 Ferners who chose the SHARKS in round 2. STILL ALIVE
