Smarter than a ten cent piece... Print E-mail

Boom-shanka.  I am smarter than a ten cent piece...  Not much to brag about, but when your tipping is as rubbish as mine, that is HUGE!!  Easy tipping this week though, really.  The Kiwi teams are in South Africa, in body only - buggered if I know where their minds are, as they are there playing ugly, ugly rugby, and getting flogged as a result.

The Chiefs are back to form too, getting their fans hopes up, and then falling to pieces.  We have the mid to late season surge back into contention to come yet, before the fall at the final hurdle, when they loose to a team that they should beat by 50.  But don't.  At least we know what to expect from this mob, year in and year out.  Last years finals appearance looks a million years ago now, and is proving to be the blip in the radar that many expected.

The Reds continue to show good form too, demolishing the Western Farce 50-10.  Wow, they will be cock a hoop, and must be eyeing their first top four finish since about 1921 now!

So to the games, which I got all right!!!

Chiefs 19 v Crusaders 26
All action first half, the Chiefs sort of hanging in there, and the Crusaders threatening to power away with the game.  Second half a dour struggle with the rain making the slick handling of the first half a distant memory.  Points of interest in the game.  The Chiefs ended up with three Bay players in their loose trio, and only one looked like a decent Super 14 player, he was wearing seven.  The Whitelock versus Latimore battle was a non battle.  Whitelock has been shite this season, who is he shagging to keep hold of that seven jersey when the best loose trio for the Crusaders would be Read at 6, McCaw at 7 and Waldrom at 8?  Leilia Masaga is really really fast, still.  Every move involving him should be set up to put him inot space with room and time to beat a man on the outside.  A five foot zero battering ram will get broken if you charge him into the midfield all day.  And finally, the Chiefs are really really dumb.  A game plan that says, "do everything at full speed, no matter what' will not win Super 14s.
Bart's tip:  Crusaders, almost having to raise a sweat
Coin's tip:  Crusaders.

Waratahs 73 v Lions 12
Well, this game might have been exciting as hell, but it wasn't.  At least I don't think it was.  I fell asleep at halftime.  So did the Lions.  King Carlos?  I don't think so, more like 'mercenary bastard I have the money now hahahaha jokes on you Lions Carlos'.  Still, did great things for the Warrabores point differential.
Bart's tip:  Warrabores quite easily.
Coin's tip:  Safe option too - Waratahs.

Brumbies 24 v Sharks 22
Missed this game too, but looks like my tip was not far off, a two point win to the orrible ozzies.  Sharks continue on their merry way to oblivion.  They still have the best logo in the competition though that running shark is cool.
Bart's tip:  Brumbies to sneak in.
Coin's tip:  Sharks to snatch the win.

Bulls 50 v Highlanders 35
Highlanders were like lambs to the slaughter.  Hey, that's a cool headline for when the Bulls get slaughtered this season at some stage!  I won't use it here.  Ahh, but it's lambs to the slaughter, so I can't use it, bugger.  I wonder how many Highlanders went out on the turps after this game...?  useless punks.  Maybe they could form their own league with the Force and the Sharks this year?  The useless pricks league.
Bart's tip:  Slaughter of the Highlanders, another Culloden.
Coin't tip:  Ditto, Bulls.

Stormers 37 v Hurricanes 13
Ouch again, 40 metre rolling mauls, great stuff.  Wrong team executing it though!  And the sooner they retire this  god-awful 'away' strip bullshit, the better.  Hurricanes are YELLOW, not grey.  Hurricanes seem to be getting worse and worse as the season progresses, bugger, especially after they looked like they could be the real deal this season.
Bart's tip:  Stormers by not too much.
Coin's tip:  Stormers too!

Reds 50 v Western Force 10
Well, I think the Reds were expected to win by most, but a 40 point thumping of the Western Farce?  Never saw that one coming.  I guess ole dome head Mitchell will be looking through the situations vacant columns with more regularity as the end of the season nears.
Bart's tip:  Reds to keep on their winning ways against the poor Force outfit.
Coin's tip:  Reds at home.

So there you go, the crystal ball came through trumps, although it was not very misty was it, I think all those games really foregone conclusions.
